At last, it's time to face the Storm King and help save the Storm Chasers and your LEGO Fortnite world from impending doom. First, you must find the Tempest Gateway and investigate it to learn how to open this portal to the king himself.

How to find the Tempest Gateway in LEGO Fortnite

Like regular storm biomes, the Tempest Gateway appears with a giant purple storm cloud above it. What differentiates the Tempest Gateway from regular stormy areas is a massive mountain under the cloud and a horned monster map icon. It'll also appear on your map as a cave rather than a swirl or face.

If you suspect you've encountered a Tempest Gateway during your playthrough, you can open your map to check for its cave and monster icon. If both appear, you can confirm you've found the gateway.

Similarly, if you feel you're not quite ready to enter the gate, you can place a Bus Station and fast travel to it later. You can make a Bus Station using the following supplies:

  • Metal Plate (4)
  • Granite Slab (2)
  • Plank (6)
  • Rift Shard (3)

Entering the Tempest Gateway

Unlike regular stormy biomes, the Tempest Gateway is tricky to navigate and requires several minutes to climb up its mountain without proper gear. Having a Storm Charm will help increase your resistance against the storm, giving you more time before it consumes your character and teleports you out.

LEGO Fortnite Storm charm recipe
Screenshot by Destructoid

LEGO Fortnite has two Storm Charm rarities: Rare and Legendary. Below is the recipe for the rare-grade Storm Charm.

  • Silk Thread (3)
  • Copper Bar (6)
  • Storm Shell (3)
  • Greater Storm Core (2)

The Legendary-tier charm is much more challenging to make, requiring the following materials:

  • Silk Thread (3)
  • Cut Amber (8)
  • Rift Crystal (5)
  • Shatterhorn Fragment (1)

While acquiring the materials for the legendary Storm Charm is difficult, its rare form is much easier if you've already dove into some dungeons and advanced through your Storm Chasers village upgrades.

Unlocking the Tempest Gateway

Now that you have a charm to help protect you against the storm, you'll have a little more time to climb the mountain and access the Tempest Gateway. At the top of the mountain is a portal, which is initially inaccessible until you defeat Raven.

Raven's icon will appear on your map after progressing through your Storm Chasers village upgrades, prompting you to eliminate them. After defeating Raven and collecting 10 Eyes of the Storm, you'll have the power you need to enter the gateway and fight the Storm King.

Fortnite Ballistic matchmaking errors, explained https://www.destructoid.com/fortnite-ballistic-matchmaking-errors-explained/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fortnite-ballistic-matchmaking-errors-explained https://www.destructoid.com/fortnite-ballistic-matchmaking-errors-explained/#respond Wed, 11 Dec 2024 15:49:35 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=977257 Fortnite Ice Spice

If you're trying to enjoy the early access of Fortnite's Ballistic mode and are unable to find any games - worry not, for you're not the only one having the problem.

As of writing, the online services of multiple Fortnite game modes are having issues on the server side. Due to the problems caused by them, players have been unable to matchmake as expected, and this spans across multiple game modes. Ballistic's early access has also been affected by it, unfortunately, but there are a few tips and tricks to ensure, which will allow you to jump in once the problems are resolved.

How to solve Fortnite Ballistic's matchmaking errors

Usually, matchmaking errors take place in Fortnite when there are either issues at your end, or the end of the servers. As of writing, it has been confirmed that the servers aren't working as intended. Epic Games has officially acknowledged the issue, and the developers are currently looking at the problems.

The best solution right now is to just wait patiently. As this is a problem at the server end, there's nothing you can do. As long as you have the updated client, you should be able to enjoy Ballistic when the servers go online. An ETA isn't available since Epic Games hasn't given a timeline about how long it will take to fix the problems.

https://twitter.com/FortniteStatus/status/1866848061890404694

Here are a few pointers to keep in mind if you get matchmaking errors even after the servers are fixed.

  • Using a cabled internet connection will be smoother compared to WiFi, and it will also reduce instances of packet bursts.
  • If you have a Strict NAT-type connection, you'll occasionally run into problems trying to matchmake in Ballistic.
  • Make sure that you don't have any background service that is consuming a large bandwidth of your allotted data.

As long as these steps are ensured, enjoying Fortnite Ballistic will be a piece of cake once Epic fixes its servers. Till then, make sure to check out our guide about what the new mode is and how it will work in Epic's battle royale universe.

How to file a claim for your Fortnite Refund https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-file-a-claim-for-your-fortnite-refund/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-to-file-a-claim-for-your-fortnite-refund https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-file-a-claim-for-your-fortnite-refund/#respond Tue, 10 Dec 2024 21:03:13 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=976727 Fortnite Jade and the Mask quest

According to an announcement by the Federal Trade Commission, Epic Games charged many Fortnite account owners for purchases they didn't want between 2017 and 2022. This pertains mostly to children Epic Games allowed to rack up numerous purchases without the knowledge of their parents, and to the company's incorrect response of blocking users who disputed wrongful charges regarding these purchases.

This means you and many others might be entitled to receive a refund, so let's find out how to get it.

Who is eligible for a Fortnite refund

The FTC states you can file your claim for a refund if any further statement applies to you:

  • You were charged for any purchase made in in-game currency for a purchase or purchases you didn't want any time between Jan 2017 and Sep 2022
  • Fortnite locked your account between January 2017 and September 2022 after you filed a complaint with your credit card company regarding wrongful charges
  • Your child made charges to your card unbeknownst to you between January 2017 and November 2018

Children and teens who found themselves wronged can also benefit from the FTC's ruling. Still, they need to ask a parent or guardian to complete the claim for them, as it's required for the form to be completed by someone who's at least 18 years old.

How to get your Fortnite refund

If you're reading this before January 10, 2025, go here to file your claim.

All you need will be either a claim number or your Epic Account ID.

If you're having trouble finding your Epic Account ID, you can do it by:

  • Head to www.epicgames.com
  • click on Sign-in
  • Sign-in with your credentials
  • Take your cursor to your account name and click on Account
  • You will find your ID under Account Information.

The FTC warns against scammers, stating that it will never ask players to pay to file claims or get refunds.

The FTC will be sending over 600,000 payments totaling more than $72 million to players in the United States, so let's find out how you can get a piece of the pie. It's unclear how much money back you will be getting back at this time. The FTC advances only that the value will depend on several factors, including the number of people filing complaints.

You can choose between getting your refund via check or PayPal, which is expected to arrive sometime in 2025. The FTC warns that if you get a check, you should cash it within 90 days, and if you get a PayPal payment, you should accept it within 30 days.

Refunds are currently only going out for residents of the United States.

The FTC states that no Fortnite account will be affected for filing a complaint this time around.

If you're looking to get more information on the matter, the FTC recommends you call the refund administrator at 1-833-915-0880, or through email at admin@fortniterefund.com.

How to find Eye of the Storm in LEGO Fortnite https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-find-eye-of-the-storm-in-lego-fortnite/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-to-find-eye-of-the-storm-in-lego-fortnite https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-find-eye-of-the-storm-in-lego-fortnite/#respond Tue, 10 Dec 2024 19:42:04 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=976684 LEGO Fortnite Storm King

As you advance through your Storm Chaser village upgrades in LEGO Fortnite, you'll find objectives asking you to collect Eye of the Storm. While this sounds as simple as traveling to the middle of a stormy biome, it requires gathering an item by the same name.

Where to get Eye of the Storm in LEGO Fortnite

Eye of the Storm is a rare-grade item you find by defeating the Storm King's Acolytes and clearing storm dungeons. While common rarity acolytes appear all around your LEGO Fortnite world, you'll need to focus on the rarer, tougher ones in storm dungeons.

However, enemies aren't guaranteed to drop an Eye of the Storm. Even the rarest, most elite Storm Acolytes don't always drop this item, with common ones rarely having any. Diving inside the dungeons that spawn in the middle of the storms is your best bet for finding powerful enough acolytes to get Eyes of the Storm.

LEGO Fortnite eye of the storm treasure chest
Screenshot by Destructoid

More importantly, the rewards you get from clearing these dungeons are where you'll get most of your Eyes of the Storm. Your goal is to destroy three storm crystals - large pink crystals that spawn randomly around the dungeon - to find a chest at the dungeon's entrance. Opening this treasure chest gives you an Eye of the Storm alongside building materials and consumables.

To put this into perspective, I usually get one Eye of the Storm from fighting various enemies in an average storm dungeon, while the treasure chest at the end almost always gives an extra eye. You can then descend using the teleporter next to the treasure chest to access more dungeon floors, giving you additional opportunities to farm Eyes of the Storm.

Later on in your playthrough, you'll find other means of getting these, such as consistently fighting elite-grade monsters and Raven, the latter having high odds of dropping Eyes of the Storm to help you enter the Tempest Gateway and fight the Storm King. For now, beating a dungeon will help you through your early Storm Chaser village levels.

How to find and beat the Storm King in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-find-and-beat-the-storm-king-in-lego-fortnite-odyssey/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-to-find-and-beat-the-storm-king-in-lego-fortnite-odyssey https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-find-and-beat-the-storm-king-in-lego-fortnite-odyssey/#respond Tue, 10 Dec 2024 17:17:02 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=976576 Peely Island Head in LEGO Fortnite

LEGO Fortnite Odyssey has some great fights and some not-so-memorable, but if you come across the Storm King, he will certainly test your abilities.

Being the final boss, he presents an incredibly difficult challenge, which is impossible to do alone. In fact, I would recommend a proper team of around eight people who are all well-equipped and maxed out in terms of weapons and armor. If you do that, you might have to chance to fight and live to tell the tale. But for that, you'll need to know where to find your enemy first.

How to find Storm King in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey

Let's take a look at all the steps that will lead you to the final boss.

  • In your Journal, you'll find the Storm Chase Base Camp mission. When it ends, you'll be required to find and defeat Raven and power up the Tempest Gateway.
  • You'll find the symbol of Storm King, but don't approach his location.
  • First, find Raven and defeat them to unlock the gateway.
  • Next, you'll need 10 Eyes of the Storm in your inventory. You can find them the item by defeating Storm enemies in the caverns.
  • Go to the Tempest Gateway, climb the mountain, and use Eyes of the Storm to unlock the portal. This portal will be open for an hour, and it will be your access to the Storm King.

As mentioned earlier, you'll have to find and defeat Raven first. You can encounter it at the location shown on the image. Like the Storm King, defeating Raven won't be an easy task either. You should look to play in a full squad to make your life easier.

Image via Epic

Once Raven is defeated, you'll want to head to the top of the mountain. Make sure you have at least 10 Eye of the Storm items, which will be required to activate the portal. The entire map has plenty of caverns, and you'll want to eliminate storm enemies. The item drops at random, and it could be a lengthy process.

There's no magic way to defeat the Storm King, and you'll have to watch out for its attack. Having a full-sized party will help you to ease your battle. Make sure you have plenty of Storm items prepared in your inventory, which will aid you in surviving the storm.

Since its debut all the way back in Season 7, the Cold Swap has grown to be an absolute fan favorite among the massive array of pickaxes in Fortnite, the latter given its unique aesthetic and charm.

But true to that, it's no surprise that a question continues to arise among the community. After all, when will the Cold Snap return? Here's when will the Cold Snap return to the Fortnite shop, as well as how much the item will most likely cost.

When is Cold Snap returning to Fortnite?

Unfortunately for all who, like me, missed the chance to add the pickaxe to their collection when it was last featured in the game's shop, there's currently no way to know when the Cold Snap will be returning to Fortnite. On that note, and given both the item's first release date and how well it fits the Holiday theme, I would not be surprised if the pickaxe were to make a return to the shop during the days surrounding this year's Christmas.

For those curious, the pickaxe's last appearance in the store dates back to June 28, 2024, when it was featured as part of the Clix's Locker bundle.

How Much Does the Cold Snap Cost?

According to the Fortnite.GG database, the Cold Snap has been featured in the game's shop a total of 63 times since its release on December 28, 2018, In all times, the pickaxe could be purchased either alone for 800 V-bucks or as part of bundles ranging from 2.300 to 2.500 V-Bucks.

Now that you know when we can expect the Cold Snap pickaxe to return in Fortnite, don't forget to also check out How to find Godzilla. If you are like me and cannot wait for the mode's debut, I also recommend checking out All available jobs in LEGO Fortnite Brick Life.

If you're someone who loves to play LEGO Fortnite, there might be a couple of amazing skins that you can unlock in the near future for absolutely free of cost.

Epic giving away free skins isn't uncommon, and that's done periodically across all available game modes. The recent rumors are from reliable leaker ShiinaBR, who has shared information about the two upcoming freebies. Incidentally, the skins will be exclusive to the LEGO Fortnite mode, and one of them so far has been a shop item. If the rumors are to be believed, players will be able to unlock Mr. Dappermint and Chord Kahele for free.

How to unlock Chord Kahele in LEGO Fortnite

https://twitter.com/ShiinaBR/status/1866136934609019260

To unlock this specific outfit, you'll need to earn XP on the mobile version of the game. Hence, you'll need to download the Android client and then use the same account. After that, you'll have to gain a certain amount of XP (the exact amount remains unknown) by playing the game on your mobile device. Do note that you can't complete this objective by playing on your consoles, and that's how you can unlock the Chord Kahele skin.

How to unlock Mr. Dappermint In LEGO Fortnite

Unlocking this skin will be much easier, but you'll have to create a LEGO account (or login to your existing account). Once done, make sure to link it with your Epic account (the same one you use to play Fortnite). After you have completed the step, Mr. Dappermint will be added to your account.

Incidentally, the skin has been present in the item shop, so I am not sure what step Epic will take if you have purchased it previously. As of writing, the release date for the two skins remains unknown. Additionally, you'll be able to find the unlock condition for any free skin that gets announced in the near future.

Fortnite reveals new tactical fps mode https://www.destructoid.com/fortnite-reveals-new-tactical-fps-mode/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=fortnite-reveals-new-tactical-fps-mode https://www.destructoid.com/fortnite-reveals-new-tactical-fps-mode/#respond Sat, 07 Dec 2024 16:06:42 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=974658 An image of Fortnite Ballistic

Fortnite may have added plenty of new content over the years, but the Ballistic mode could be a breath of fresh air for the community to enjoy.

So far, Epic's battle royale has stuck closely to the genre despite all the community-created content that can be enjoyed at any given time. Ballistic will be something completely different, and it's going to be the first 5v5 FPS mode. The developers have allowed some important information about the upcoming mode, including what to expect and when it will go live.

Fortnite Ballistic release date

The Ballistic mode will have 5v5 contests with a focus on FPS rather than the traditional third-person viewpoint. The mode will launch in early access on December 11, and Epic has given out brief details regarding how the mode will work.

https://twitter.com/FortniteGame/status/1865395948362293652

Fortnite Ballistic mode explained

As already mentioned, Ballistic will be a FPS mode that will pit two teams of five players against each other. It will launch with the Skyline 10 map, a limited number of items, and a starter set of weapons. As expected, it will be a no-build mode, and all your saved presets from the Locker will carry over. Any item that you have unlocked over the years, like outfits, emotes, and more, won't be supported.

Every contest will have one team playing the role of attacker, with the other being the defender. The Attackers will have to plant the Rift Point Device, while the Defenders will have to defend it before the device activates. There will be two regions across the map where players can plant the device.

The teams will switch their roles after every 6 rounds, and the one to win 7 rounds will win the contest.

Every player will start with a Ranger Pistol and 800 Credits. Players will earn credits by eliminating enemies and planting the Rift Point Device. If they manage to survive a round, they will keep all their gear and shields. Players can also help their teammates with consumables and other gear items.

Each player will also begin their journey with one of the five Flex Gadgets, and they can have a maximum of two of these items for any round. Players can't pick up the Flex Gadget of another teammate. When used strategically, the Flex Gadgets can completely change the tide of a round and the battle as a whole.

The Ballistic mode will have Ranked and Unranked, and you can choose to play the mode you like. Ranked will be much more competitive, and you'll be hit with a penalty if you leave a contest prematurely. All matches will be based on the average rank of your party to keep the contests fair for all.

Medallions are special tokens in Fortnite that give you a wide array of buffs, ranging from life-stealing abilities to temporary invisibility. These effects differ with each season, and during Chapter 6, Season 1, you can find two medallions with unique buffs at the cost of revealing your location.

All Medallion locations in Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 1

Each medallion is dropped by Fortnite's bosses, whom you'll find scattered around the map. During Chapter 6, Season 1, you'll find the following bosses in these locations:

  • Night Rose: Demon's Dojo
  • Shogun X: Loot Island

Although these bosses differ slightly from previous season variations, their spawn locations stay the same. Night Rose and Shogun will stay in their respective areas and protect their base, allowing you to storm in, defeat them, and take their medallions. Be careful, as other players will likely do the same during your matches. Fortnite bosses and their minions are also surprisingly strong, so be sure to bring a weapon and a medkit or two, just in case.

In the case of Night Rose, you can just run right into Demon's Dojo and start the fight. At first, you'll see a massive red oni mask controlling a puppet. Shooting the puppet damages the boss without too many issues, but she does have occasional immunity phases where you have to dodge her attacks and shoot at the mask.

Fortnite Shogun X boss
Screenshot by Destructoid

Shogun X, on the other hand, won't appear until Loot Island spawns. Rather than finding one large island, you'll find several in the area with wind sprites surrounding it. Shogun X will be on the island, as indicated by his red oni mask icon on your map. He has multiple attacks, including launching giant oni heads, slashing at you with his sword, and teleporting around the islands, but they're also fairly easy to dodge with their delays.

If another player beats you to a boss and picks up the medallion, you'll spot a gold ring on your map, indicating their approximate location. The more medallions one person picks up, the more specific this ring will be, allowing you to pinpoint where they are. You have two choices from here: run away or charge forward and try to steal the medallions.

All Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 1 bosses and medallions

Each Fortnite boss has their own medallion that grants special powers. No boss can drop two medallions, but players can equip as many as they can get their hands on. Below is every Chapter 6, Season 1 medallion and its effects.

Boss Medallion Effect
Night Rose Night Rose Your weapons will automatically reload.
Shogun X Wanderer Gain infinite stamina and invisibility while sprinting.

You can also combine the effects of each medallion if you pick up multiple. In other words, you might encounter a situation where you quickly sprint toward someone while invisible, unload your weapons, and quickly reload or retreat if things get dicey. You can easily gain a massive advantage over others, especially if you prefer stealthy combat.

If you enjoy driving cars around the Fortnite map, you'll likely be more than familiar with running out of gas and traveling on foot until you find another vehicle. Visiting a gas station lets you refuel your car using their fuel pumps, allowing you to keep driving a little longer.

How to find gas stations and fuel pumps in Fortnite

There are 26 fuel pumps spread around six main gas stations in Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 1, primarily around Burd and Brutal Boxcars. Other named landmarks like Twinkle Terrace and Shining Span have stations nearby, giving you several locations to visit, depending on the Battle Bus' travel direction. Below is a map of every gas station and fuel pump location.

Fortnite fuel pump locations in Chapter 6 Season 1
Image via Fortnite.gg

Almost every major gas station also has a car spawn for you to grab if your current one is low health. That way, you can quickly refuel and head out or swap out your car for an improved version. Sometimes, you may have a weekly or event quest asking you to visit a gas station and refuel your vehicle, allowing you to knock out this objective and get some quick and easy XP.

How to refuel your car in Fortnite

In previous seasons, refueling your car required interacting with a gas pump and bringing the nozzle to your vehicle. As you held your attack button toward the car with the gas nozzle, your fuel percentage rose until it reached 100 percent. Nowadays, refueling only requires driving your car onto a platform and waiting for your health and fuel to replenish.

Just be careful, as anyone can come in during this time and damage you, your car, or the nearby pumps, creating dangerous explosions. While the pump restores some car health, it can't quite withstand burst damage or explosions.

How to blow up a fuel pump in Fortnite

Alternatively, you can blow up the fuel pumps yourself if you need to finish some quests, create strategic damage sources, or get up to some mischief by damaging them. Every fuel pump has a health bar and will explode once it reaches zero. Watch your positioning while damaging it, as it can easily hurt you and drain your shields and health.

If you've been wandering the mystical lands in Fortnite as part of Chapter 6 content, you might have come across the mysterious Sprites.

These creatures can be found all across the map, but you can increase your chances of finding one if you know where to look. Once found, you'll want to return them to get some nice rewards in exchange.

How to get Sprites in Fortnite Chapter 6

There's no specific location where you can find the Sprites, so you'll have to largely depend on your luck. That said, they've reportedly been found further away from the different points of interest, so it will make sense for you to look further and deeper.

Once you find one, it's hard to miss these creatures, and after you pick one up, you will have a new throwable item at your disposal.

  • White Sprites - creates an upward air-based vortex.
  • Brown Sprites - gives you a reward
  • Blue Sprites - generates a fountain that heals you.

https://twitter.com/FNCompetitive/status/1863192907949154523

Additionally, make sure to be on the lookout for a Sprite Shrine. These shrines will help you to locate the ones that you are yet to find, and you can also return any that you have for more rewards.

How to return Sprites in Fortnite Chapter 6

Sprite Shrines are not marked on the mini-map, but it's easy to spot them. Once you come close, the place will have a light glow. If you pick up a Sprite, they will also indicate the location of a nearby shrine. Once you reach the spot, you can submit the Sprite that you picked up to get a Boon in return.

The Boons will depend on the type of Sprite you submit, but all three of them are pretty useful. You'll also get other items like weapons and consumables that can potentially help you to outlast your opponents on the battlefield.

You can find these shrines across every major location on the map, so make sure to be on the lookout for them whenever you've picked up a Sprite.

The King of Kaijus, Godzilla, is now present in the colorful realms of Fortnite, and you can unlock it to cause waves of radioactive destruction on your enemies.

The Kaiju is one of many recent additions that have been made to the game, and like previous collaborations, it's part of the battle pass. The latest launch just adds to the long list of special collaborations that Epic Games has made with their battle royale. Let's take a look at how you can obtain this special skin and if it involves any kind of microtransactions.

How to get the Godzilla skin in Fortnite

Godzilla is part of the new pass, and to be more specific, it can be unlocked from Season 6, Chapter 1. This season, the pass has been completely revamped, and the format of the rewards has been altered. However, you'll first need to own the Battle Pass, which costs 1,000 V-Bucks to unlock.

Having the pass won't be enough, as you'll need to wait for the correct date in order to unlock the skin. On January 17, you will be able to unlock the King of Monsters, and more rewards that are part of the pass. Additionally, you'll also need to complete the quests in order to play with the skin.

https://twitter.com/gwrldmedia/status/1863197151913795757

The quests, as of writing, are unknown. These quests will become available only on January 17, so you'll have to wait for the time being. It will be mandatory for you to complete all these missions if you want to get the Godzilla skin to use in Fortnite.

For the time being, it appears that this skin will be exclusive to the Season Pass. However, Epic has made older skins available in the in-game store that were once exclusive to Season Passes. If that happens in the future, it will be great for those who might not be able to afford the pass at the moment.

Ultra-famous rapper Juice WRLD sadly passed away in 2019, but his fans will now get to remember the late artist by straight-up embodying him in Fortnite in its epic Chapter 2 Remix's finale. Epic Game's mega-hit will feature two Juice WRLD skins, and one of them you can get for free. Let's find out how.

How To get Juice WRLD Slayer Skin in Fortnite for free

The Slayer Juice WRLD skin is free, and it's surprisingly easy to get. All you need to do is log into the game before November 30 at 10 PM ET. That's the closing time of Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix, thus the last moment to acquire the skin.

By logging in, you get not just the skin, but also a bunch of different goodies:

-Slayer Juice WRLD skin
-999 Knives back bling
-999 Knives pickaxe
-Adventure, Remix'd loading screen
-Number One Remix loading screen
-Remix with the Golden Touch loading screen
-Juice's WRLD loading screen

Epic Games informs that the cosmetics will be made available in the store at a later date. The skin may possibly be made available later, but it will likely come at a cost, so you're better off just logging into Fortnite right now just to make sure. On top of all the free cosmetics, Nov 27 will also see the release of the following premium Juice WRLD-themed cosmetics:

-Juice WRLD Outfit
-Studding Skull Back Bling
-Lean Wit Me Jam Track
-Lucid Dreams Jam Track
-999 Wrap
-WRLD Keys Keytar

When does the Juice WRLD skin arrive?

Even though you'll be ensuring the ownership of the skin in your Fortnite account, logging in will not grant you the skin right away. Fortnite will only let you use the skin the day after you log on, so don't fret if you don't immediately get to play as the late rapper.

Questionable as it may be to have the skin of a young person who died tragically forever in a place where you can re-kill them, the skin does look great.

You can play Fortnite on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, and Mobile.

Fortnite is adding Kicks into the game, giving us more ways to customize our skins. Since this is only just the beginning of the series, we’ll have only a limited amount for now.

As time passes, there will obviously be more to buy or earn by playing the game. Here are all the released Kicks shoe cosmetics in Fortnite, with pictures.

All of these shoes have a real-life counterpart, which is the cool thing. Most are probably unavailable at a typical retailer and will most likely be purchased from a third party or a reseller online.

As of right now, they are temporarily disabled, but when they are enabled, you’ll be able to snag them for V-Bucks.

Can all skins wear the Fortnite Kicks?

Unfortunately, it seems that only about 524 skins will be compatible with Kicks. Not every skin will be able to use them.

Make sure the skins you’re wearing are able to wear kicks so you don’t make a purchase you can’t fully utilize.

Which skins can wear Kicks?

While Epic plans to make a majority of the skins compatible with Kicks by the Spring of 2025, you can check if any of your current ones can wear them right now.

  • In your locker, select your Outfit and hit “Sort Filter.”
  • Scroll down until you find “Kicks Usable.”
  • Hit “Apply”.
  • The number in the parenthesis() will tell you how many skins you have that are currently capable of wearing kicks.

If you have several skins and only see a few that are compatible, don’t sweat it. More will be available by then.

Em and Snoop had their time in the spotlight these past few weeks. It’s time for Ice Spice to be at the front of the stage and show out in Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix. Many fans eager to get her skin will wonder how to get it, so here’s everything you need to know.

How to get Ice Spice in Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix

To get the Ice Spice or Rap Princess skin in Fortnite, she will be available in the Shop for V-Bucks. Prices should be similar to those of Eminem’s and Snoop’s skins, so expect prices to be as follows:

  • Ice Spice and Rap Princess outfits: 1,500 V-Bucks each
  • Emote: 500 V-Bucks
  • Jam Tracks: 500 V-Bucks
  • Microphone / Pickaxe: 800 V-Bucks

Like the other two rappers, Ice Spice should also have a discounted bundle with all of her accessories. It’ll most likely also include the tracks used in the Fortnite Festival mode.

Her skin and all accessories will be available starting November 14, 2024, at 4 PM PST / 6 PM CST. Check the times based on your area as they can slightly differ.

How to get Ice Spice’s weapons in Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix

To get Ice Spice’s Grappler or her Mythic weapon, you’ll have to defeat her at her dedicated POI called Ice Isle. It’ll take place where Shark Island is.

The location will be decked out in Y2K decorations and obviously scream Ice Spice. When the update goes live for Week 3, this area is going to be packed with fans, people doing any quests pertaining to the area, and people wanting the new gear.

Will Ice Spice be available after the event?

Ice Spice may be made available after Chapter 2 Remix concludes, but don’t count on it being anytime soon. If you really want to cop her skin to use in a later season of the game, don’t hesitate, or at least get a skin and not the whole bundle.

Epic Games has announced the return of Fortnite OG, a mode that rolls the game back to its original build — but this time, it's not going away after a month. Fortnite OG will be available again as a permanent addition on December 6, 2024.

The news was confirmed by Epic Games today, following some recent rumors of the mode's return, in a message posted to X.

"OG is coming BACK and is here to stay," the company wrote. "Relive Battle Royale from the start and explore the OG map, collect OG loot, and relive OG seasons. Drop back in on December 6."

https://twitter.com/FortniteGame/status/1856351379838701691

Fortnite OG brings everything back to Chapter 1

Fortnite OG returns the game to Chapter 1, which launched way back in the long, long ago of 2017. Many of us were wee babes back then. Fortnite OG lets players re-experience the game on the original island map with classic weapons, loot, and more. Epic Games first launched Fortnite OG on November 3, 2023, allowing players to get all warm and nostalgic until the company ended the event on December 2. The OG version of the game came with a 50-level OG Pass and an OG Store with old-school cosmetics.

Longtime Fortnite fans have a lot to celebrate this holiday season. Fortnite OG is on the rebound, but it's rumored that Season 6 could also launch soon. While it's not confirmed, a new chapter in the Fortnite legacy along with the return of OG will make for a lot of happy fans who may soon have a lot less time. But I suppose 'tis the slaying season, right?

Fortnite OG Season brings many players to the game

Fortnite OG broke records when it launched last year. According to Epic Games, 44.7 million players logged on for a trip down memory lane, making it the "biggest day in Fortnite's history." Will that number be surpassed next month? We only have a few weeks to find out.

Fortnite's Chapter 2 Remix event features plenty of nods to stories of the past. One particularly secret story deserves an appropriately secret set of quests. This guide will help you to hunt down 10 hidden Lawn Gnomes for a hefty chunk of battle pass XP.

War of the Gnomes

A player examines a gnome, half-buried in the sand

Back in the original Chapter 2, eagle-eyed players noticed certain props moving around the island between updates. Through the chapter, a story was told about a confrontation between the Lawn Gnomes and the Teddy Bears. Unlike most games, however, it wasn't told through cinematics or audio logs. It was told through the incremental changes made to props between updates.

Eventually, the war was won by the Teddy Bears, and the Gnomes were exiled from the island. However, they've been periodically spotted by players every now and again. With Chapter 2 Remix here, we thought perhaps we'd relive the early days of that fated war. Instead, it appears that the Gnomes and Teddy Bears now get along! They're hanging out in locations throughout the island, ready to hand over chunks of battle pass XP to players who find them.

Gnome locations in Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix

There are ten gnomes throughout the island. As you get near them, you'll see an exclamation point icon to help track them down. They're hidden away quite sneakily, so this map will help you locate them all.

A map of the island in Chapter 2 Remix with gnome locations marked

  • In Craggy Cliffs in the north of the island
  • Under an umbrella in the sand of a secluded beach to the north
  • Under a pylon from the power lines that run from Steamy Stacks to Retail Row
  • Hanging on the shore of a river bend southeast of Frenzy Farm
  • Watching TV inside a white house in Holly Hedges
  • Playing Hide and Seek under a tree with a nearby Teddy Bear east of Holly Hedges
  • Hanging out in Weeping Woods
  • Standing next to a waterfall, reachable by dropping from the top or plunger-gun
  • Relaxing near Misty Meadows
  • Freezing head-first in the snow next to an abandoned camp

Each lawn gnome is worth 10,000 XP, with a bonus of 20,000 XP for collecting all ten. That should help you rocket through the expedited Battle Pass for this season. Remember to work fast because everything goes away at the end of the month!

20 best free games on Nintendo Switch right now https://www.destructoid.com/best-free-games-on-nintendo-switch-right-now/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=best-free-games-on-nintendo-switch-right-now https://www.destructoid.com/best-free-games-on-nintendo-switch-right-now/#respond Tue, 08 Oct 2024 17:37:51 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=373145 Best free Switch games Smite

Fun that doesn't break the bank

For some, the Nintendo Switch can be an expensive investment. Once you've purchased the console itself, there are additional Joy-Con controllers, the Nintendo Switch Online membership, and, of course, first-party titles like Super Mario Odyssey that almost never seem to go on sale, even years after their release.

Thankfully, there are some awesome games on this system that cost absolutely nothing to play and are most certainly worth your time and attention. Here are the 10 best free-to-play games on Nintendo Switch you can enjoy right now.

Asphalt Legends Unite

Asphalt 9: Legends is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Destructoid

Those missing the Burnout series may want to check out Asphalt Legends Unite by Gameloft. The intense speed, the outrageous tricks, and the decent graphics all go a long way in this racing experience. Performing tricks to increase your boost meter is satisfying, and being able to ram opponents into the walls is even more so. If you can ignore the micro-transaction-heavy side of Asphalt Legends Unite, you’ll find an underrated gem of a racing title for free.

Deltarune

Deltarune is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Toby Fox

Toby Fox’s follow-up from the Undertale series Deltarune is entirely free-to-play with no microtransactions in sight. The story is suitably entertaining, while Toby Fox maintains the much-loved, oddly-natured lore of the Undertale world and characters. As you’d expect from the series, there is some stellar battle music and a unique pixel art style. If you’re a fan of Undertale, this is a must-play.

Fall Guys

Fall Guys is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Epic Games

One of the most adorable free-to-play games you can play on the Nintendo Switch is Fall Guys. Against 59 other players, you’re competing to get the crown at the end of several mini-games. You’re going through tough obstacle courses with the silly physics of the game, scoring goals by heading a ball into the net or trying to outlast other players from disappearing platforms. It’s a lot of fun. I’ve only ever been able to get a crown once, but when I finally got it, I felt like a million Show-Bucks.

There are cosmetic items you may want to buy in Fall Guys, but the good thing is that they don’t affect the stats of any player.  This isn’t pay-to-win. Something to keep in mind is that developer Mediatonic organizes free events, giving you costumes for finishing tasks.

Fortnite

Some hate it, and others love it, but no matter where you stand you can’t deny that Fortnite is a smash success. Epic Games brings out compelling maps and guns that keep its fanbase entertained. The battle pass every season provides a lot of value, and the quests the developer provides are entertaining enough to keep you invested in the chaos of the game. I personally disliked the building elements of the original concept, but there is now a popular Zero Build mode that has consumed my gaming schedule.

F-Zero 99

F-Zero 99 is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Destructoid

F-Zero 99 brings the chaos of the original SNES game and puts you in a race against 98 other players. Similar to Tetris 99, you’ll need to survive as they bash into you and in some cases, self-destruct around you on purpose. The controls are stellar as you drift around each corner and spin to dish damage to your foes. It’s a phenomenal take on the classic game. You’ll need Nintendo Switch Online to play this free game, however.

Brawlhalla

Brawlhalla is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Destructoid

If you’re getting tired of playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after all these years, you might want to try Brawlhalla for free. It has a charming comic-like art style and a simple yet engaging battle system that has you constantly switching between two combat styles. The game’s cross-play, so you can check it out with all your pals on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and even mobile.

There are also pop culture icons who’ll never join Smash, like the WWE’s John Cena and SpongeBob SquarePants fighting each other. They’re available as skins via paid DLC.

Pokémon Unite

Pokémon Unite is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Tencent

Pokémon Unite is an absolute delight. It takes the MOBA mechanics of a game like League of Legends and places it into a thrilling 3v3 battle arena. The action is frenetic as you master each Pokemon's specific moves and work together to defeat the enemy team. The graphics are quite delightful, despite the game being available on both mobile and the Nintendo Switch. Like the previous entry on this list, there is also crossplay between those two platforms.

Something to keep in mind is that there are multiple microtransactions in the game. There are cosmetics such as costumes for your Pokémon and trainer, a battle pass, and other purchases that your wallet should be scared of. You can earn in-game rewards, however, through the free battle pass and performing well in Ranked.

Rocket League

Rocket League is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop

Rocket League is a simple concept that works so well on the Switch. You drive RC cars on a football/soccer pitch, flipping and turbo-boosting in order to score goals. If you need help as a beginner, on the other hand, you can enlist your friends from all platforms and still have fun on the field, There are car skins, antennas, rocket trails, and more to unlock through paid content, but some rewards are given to you periodically as you play.

Smite

Smite is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Hi-Rez Studios

With over 100 gods to choose from and a console-friendly third-person perspective, Smite is one of the best MOBAs out there. There are beginner-friendly modes like Arena and Joust (3v3) to get you started and accustomed to learning your favorite characters. Then there's the Conquest mode with an expansive map and 5v5 combat. Each move adds a strategic element to the battle; for example, Cupid's Heart Bomb is a ranged attack that slows enemies on impact, while Hades can pull in his foes towards him with Pillar of Agony. Like most other free-to-play games, there are real money cosmetics to purchase.

Tetris 99

Tetris 99 is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop

One of the best free games on Nintendo Switch, Tetris 99 is engrossing as you survive to be the very last player standing. You have to keep up with the ever-increasing tempo of the gameplay and finish lines to send them to an opposing player. The action gets pretty intense at times, but is always worth it thanks to the compelling and rewarding gameplay. Thankfully, there are no microtransactions in Tetris 99, and you unlock new skins for your playfield by finishing in-game tasks.

Tetris 99 comes free with your Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

Palia

The world of Palia is expansive, and it’s completely free to dive in and explore. As with many cozy games, there are a selection of NPCs who can be befriended or even romanced, and they all have a seemingly endless number of quests for you to complete. Palia also benefits from almost monthly updates, which add new side content, items, and activities to take part in.

The only thing that will cost you anything in Palia is premium store outfits, tool skins, or glider skins. But choosing not to hand over your cash has zero effect on your gameplay, so it’s easy to ignore if you don’t want to spend anything.

Disney Speedstorm

Disney Speedstorm is like Mario Kart if it was free, and all of the drivers were beloved Disney characters with cars themed around them. You can drift, charge up your Nitro Boost and even knock other racers off the road by side swiping them. Again, presumably heavily inspired by Mario Kart, racers can also pick up sprites along the track to give them power ups, which can then be used to gain an advantage in the race.

Sky: Children of the Light

Sky: Children of the Light is a social game in which you can meet and befriend other players. In Sky, your only task is to explore the seven realms, unlocking new cosmetics and increasing the level of your Cape. This Cape is your means of transportation, as it allows you to fly through the skies of the realms, taking you further into the wilds. You can chat and send gifts to friends, play musical instruments, and a whole lot more.

My Hero Ultra Rumble

Ultra Rumble is a MOBA fit for any fan of the Anime or Manga, and sees you grouped into parties of three in order to take out the rest of the 24 players in a match. The map you play on shrinks over time, leaving just two teams of three battling it out against each other. There is a Gacha element to Ultra Rumble, but don’t let that put you off. You have six characters unlocked by default, so you’ve got plenty to work with right off the bat.

Pokémon Café ReMix

If any of the games on this list are perfect for simply relaxing and zoning out, it’s Pokémon Café ReMix. Using the touchscreen capabilities of your switch, you need to swipe at a pool of Pokémon faces in order to fulfil the orders of other Pokémon, who will then eventually come and work for you and unlock new recipes. It’s weirdly addictive, and also adorable on top, so definitely worth it given the lack of payment needed.

Guardian Tales

If you want a dungeon crawling game with cute graphics, then Guardian Tales is very much recommended. Originally released on iOS and Android back in 2020, and then coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022, you need to use all the tactics at your disposal to lure enemies into the open so you can complete each area. It can get a little frustrating at times, but it’s immensely satisfying and you can join guilds with other players, allowing you to take on even bigger and stronger enemies.

Angry Bunnies: Colossal Carrot Crusade

If you’ve ever played Angry Birds, then you’ll have a good idea what to expect from Angry Bunnies. It’s the same concept with some slight twists — you fire bunnies out of a hop-powered cannon to try and take down structures at the other end of the playing arena, which have been constructed by wildlife critters. I stumbled across this by accident, and then quickly racked up more hours playing than I’d care to admit.

Tricky Doors

Image via Five-BN

Tricky Doors is a puzzle-game-meets-escape-room experience that will really make you think outside the box, but it’s not too difficult that it becomes ultimately frustrating. There are a long list of mini-games and small quests to complete, and the different rooms in which you find yourself trapped are absolutely jam-packed with detail, so you’re unlikely to ever find yourself becoming bored.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades

The Elder Scrolls: Blades is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via Bethesda

Compared to the Elder Scrolls titles that you may be more familiar with, Blades is much more linear and you’re essentially forced into one-on-one combat situations in order to progress. However, that doesn’t detract from the fun experience that this game offers. There are three modes: Abyss, which is an endless dungeon to test yourself against, Arena, which is player versus player multiplayer, and Town, which is a town for you to rebuild and upgrade.

Hamster Playground

Hamster Playground is free to download and play from the Nintendo Switch eShop
Image via We Dig Games

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a hamster whose sole purpose in life is to navigate various mazes and competing with other hamsters? No? Just me? Well if you haven’t wondered, then perhaps you should, because Hamster Playground is just that. Not only are you playing as a hamster, but you can also dress up your hamster in a huge variety of costumes. It’s adorable and incredibly fun, as long as you don’t take it too seriously.

There are a few hidden quests this season in Fortnite. They require you to explore the map and find special NPC's who will give you secret objectives. Completing them isn't necessary for anything in particular, but they do contain some fun lore. Also, you'll get a free level-up for completing them!

Peely's astonishing alter-ego, Peelverine, has one such quest for you. This guide will help you locate and complete the Found Story Quest.

Where is Peelverine?

Fortunately, he's not as well hidden as Gwenpool and the Tony Stark fans were. Peelverine can be found skating on banana peels just east of Restored Reels. When you're in the area, look for the speech bubble icon on your mini-map to hone in on this slippery bub.

Peelverine asks the player to assist them.

Talking to him shows a quest icon in his menu. Select that and listen to what he has to say.

How to activate Rift Beacons for Peelverine

His quest isn't terribly difficult. You'll need to head east into the hills between Restored Reels and Risky Railways. Up there, you'll find a series of Rift Beacons around where the countdown timer for the recent Doom event was. Simply walk up to three of them and interact with them. You don't need to turn this back into Peelverine, as the quest will be completed automatically.

Once you've completed the quest, you'll be granted another level-up for your battle pass. This is, fortunately, a much shorter and easier questline than the others.

It's time to flip some faces and figure out the murderer, as Clue, Guess Who, and Connect Four are all heading to Fortnite in the coming months. Clue is the first Hasbro game to launch in Fortnite, and Guess Who comes to the battle royale title later in October.

A refresh of the games

Launching today, Murder Mystery: Clue has players in round-based gameplay and a countdown timer. Everyone has different roles, such as the Killer, Detective, and Guest, and each one has a different win condition. The developer Look North World says, "This new take on Clue offers a highly replayable experience, blending nostalgia with engaging gameplay that resonates with today’s players" in the press release.

Guess Who comes to Fortnite later this month, while we'll have to wait until December for Connect Four. This move is to help pivot Hasbro's classic games to a modern audience. Apparently, they will be "offering a fresh twist that reimagines these classic board games."

"We are excited to work with Hasbro, a brand that understands the power of user-generated content as a unique opportunity to connect with passionate gamers," said Look North World Founder and CEO Alex Seropian.

Seropian helped create Bungie, the studio that developed the legendary Halo and Destiny series. Now, Look North World is creating content for Fortnite and premium mods for ARK: Survival Ascended.

Hasbro claimed in 2023 that Clue is the second-most popular board game in the world. It has sold over 150 million copies in its lifetime. It also has a new live-action film on the way by director James Bobin and 20th Century Studios. The game itself has been around for over 70 years and was created by Anthony Pratt during World War 2.

The LEGO Fortnite Weekly Quests hits us with another round of challenges. In it, you'll see a new task for the Pirates Arrgh Life! section, requiring a specific creation. Here's how to build Golden Pirate pieces in LEGO Fortnite.

What are Golden Pirate pieces in LEGO Fortnite?

You can make Golden Pirate pieces by crafting items with Gold Bars. Locate Gold Ore around Lost Isles, where they frequently appear on the floating islands. Use these materials to build the following Golden Pirate pieces in LEGO Fortnite:

  • Golden Pirate Jolly Roger:

    • 3 Gold Bar
    • 3 Bone

  • Golden Pirate Wall Compass:

    • 4 Gold Bar
    • 1 Bone

  • Golden Pirate Skull:

    • 4 Gold Bar

  • Golden Pirate Banner:

    • 3 Gold Bar
    • 4 Wool Fabric

Each recipe requires you to smelt down the Gold Ore with the Metal Smelter. Assemble this build with 15 Brightcores, 35 Obsidian Slabs, and 3 Blast Cores. You'll also need a few torches once it's time to smelt. Now, you can open your building schematics to discover the Golden Pirate pieces.

Go to the Decorations's Hanging section to discover the first three. Or, go to Sculptures to unlock the Golden Pirate Banner. Since there aren't a whole lot of these pieces, you can have multiple of the same kind. I also found out that you can destroy the build and recreate it again to make it count for the task. So, even if you don't have enough ore, you can get rid of one to collect and regain those resources.

Every time you place an item down, you should notice some progress in the Weekly Quest Tracker. Craft four builds in total to complete the Golden Pirate piece quest in LEGO Fortnite. That'll give you 400 Studs for the LEGO Pass, which you can exchange for more builds, cosmetics, and bundles.

If you enjoy Epic Games' battle royale and French bread, you may want to get the Sir Beurre Back Bling in Fortnite. It's fairly easy to get, but you will need to use your browser on a PC or phone to access it.

How to receive Sir Beurre back bling

In order to get this croissant-themed back bling for your characters in Fortnite, you'll have to sign up for surveys from Epic Games. It's a neat free item to get, and you'll get it within 24 hours of signing up for surveys.

How to sign up for surveys in Fortnite

To sign up for surveys, you'll need to log in to your Epic Games account on its website. Log in to the same Epic Games account as the one you use in Fortnite. Then, head to your Account page by hitting the user icon on the top right section of the page and clicking on the tab. Go to "Account Settings" in the left column and verify your email address.

Once that's done, click on "Email Preferences" on the left tab. Scroll down all the way to the bottom and make sure the mark next to the "Survey" option has a blue check on it. You should now be ready to go.

Again, wait up to 24 hours for the Sir Beurre back bling to appear in Fortnite. You'll then be able to equip it onto your character's back, no matter how strange they look. Maybe you could put it on Mr. Incredible, Goku, or Ariana Grande. Yeah, this game's weird with how many crossovers it has.

The Incredibles are arriving to Fortnite: Battle Royale tonight https://www.destructoid.com/the-incredibles-are-arriving-to-fortnite-battle-royale-tonight/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-incredibles-are-arriving-to-fortnite-battle-royale-tonight https://www.destructoid.com/the-incredibles-are-arriving-to-fortnite-battle-royale-tonight/#respond Fri, 27 Sep 2024 20:56:01 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=606965

Disney and Epic Games had already announced during D23 2024 that they were going to add The Incredibles skins to Fortnite: Battle Royale in the near future. But nobody was expecting them to drop them on the store so soon and completely out of the blue.

https://twitter.com/FortniteGame/status/1839666677329416422

Earlier today, the official Fortnite account on Twitter/X confirmed that the three previously revealed skins based on Pixar's hit superhero animated film, The Incredibles, are going to be added to the in-game store tonight: Mr. Incredible (Bob Parr), Elastigirl (Helen Parr) and Frozone (Lucius Best). Mr Incredible's vehicle, The Incredible, will also be available to purchase in the store.

The Fortnite account even posted the trailer with the line "Where are those super suits?", in reference to one of the film's most hilarious scenes. Epic Games did not reveal the specific time in which it will add the new skins, but Fortnite's Item Shop refreshes daily at around 00:00 UTC / 5:00 PM PT / 8:00pm ET. So you can probably expect them to appear in the next few hours.

Naturally, Fortnite fans received this surprise announcement with a lot of excitement, and they especially praised these skins for looking so good and remaining faithful to the art style of The Incredibles. However, many other players were not happy with this sudden addition to the Item Shop, and complained that they didn't have the opportunity to collect enough V-Bucks to acquire them later today.

Fortnite will have other Disney animated icons, not just The Incredibles

Maleficent and Hook in Fortnite.

Disney has been collaborating with Epic Games on Fortnite: Battle Royale for many years, but both companies have mostly focused on action franchises like Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and more. Only recently, during Disney's D23 2024 exposition, the company confirmed that it will add skins based on some of its most iconic animated films, and The Incredibles will not be the only ones.

Disney announced that Epic Games will add a pack of Disney Villains to Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, which will include Maleficent, Captain Hook, and Cruella de Vil. In the reveal trailer, all three of them have slick new designs that make them look more intimidating and help them better fit the atmosphere of the game. There still isn't a specific release date for this pack but, considering how Epic Games dropped the Incredibles skins out of nowhere, the same thing could happen with the Disney Villains.

Since the new cannon weapon remains stationary, eliminating foes with it proves challenging. You'll also need to unlock the build first, which requires a specific set of recipes.

If you're having trouble completing the Weekly Quest tied to it, here's how to defeat an enemy with a cannonball in LEGO Fortnite.

LEGO Fortnite Defeat an enemy with a cannonball quest guide

For starters, you must unlock the recipe for the cannon by obtaining Blast Powder from pirates or cowboy skeletons. Collect six Planks and three Copper Bars (Dry Valley caves) to craft it, then start making cannonballs. Build ammunition on the crafting bench using two Granite and one Blast Powder. I utilized these materials to set up a cannon in front of Pirate Camp, but there are better ways to do it.

Cannon in LEGO Fortnite
Screenshot by Destructoid

Cars with a cannon or the Crusher builds are the best tools for the mission, as they provide a mobile feature to the restricted cannon. That way, you don't have to wait around for enemies to show up, taking the battle right to their doorstep. It's also the quickest way to defeat an enemy with a cannonball in LEGO Fortnite.

How to unlock and craft Crusher in LEGO Fortnite

The Lost Isles update introduces a new recipe with the Crusher, a tank-like vehicle equipped with a cannon. If you don't see this recipe in the collection, you must acquire its ingredients to trigger its appearance. Here's a list of all the items needed for the Crusher:

  • 33 Wooden Rod
  • 71 Wood
  • 68 Granite
  • 32 Frostpine
  • 10 Cord
  • 10 Plank
  • 8 Frostpine Rod
  • 3 Copper Bar
  • 2 Torch
  • 2 Glass

You can find most objects in the Lost Isles, but a few are found elsewhere. Go to the Dry Valley for copper and the Frostlands for Frostpines. Additionally, copper requires a rare pickaxe, so you'll need to make some upgrades prior.

Those who collect all materials can start building the Crusher via the Builds' Rugged Rollers section. Jump on for a ride and get the cannon ready to satisfy the LEGO Fortnite quest.

How to find a Birthday Medallion in Fortnite https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-find-a-birthday-medallion-in-fortnite/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-to-find-a-birthday-medallion-in-fortnite https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-find-a-birthday-medallion-in-fortnite/#respond Wed, 25 Sep 2024 16:32:45 +0000 https://www.destructoid.com/?p=604833 Fortnite Birthday medallion

It's time to celebrate Fortnite's seventh birthday by opening gifts, collecting medallions, and flying around the map with balloons. There are also quests involving obtaining these items, but finding a birthday medallion is more challenging than you'd expect unless you get your hands on some birthday presents.

Where to find a Birthday Medallion in Fortnite

The easiest way to find a birthday medallion in Fortnite is to open a birthday present. From September 24 until October 1, birthday presents will spawn on the floor or in chests as legendary-tier items that you can pick up and throw to the ground. Each birthday present has a medallion inside alongside an epic or legendary-grade item.

Fortnite Birthday present item
Screenshot by Destructoid

The downside is that birthday presents have random spawns around the map. You can find them on the floor in any POI or within treasure chests, but there's no guarantee you'll spot one throughout your match, even if you survive until the end.

How to use a Birthday Medallion in Fortnite

Birthday medallions are different from regular boss ones, as they don't directly buff your character or reveal your location. Instead, they periodically spawn balloons on your back, allowing you to hover in the air when you jump.

Fortnite balloons
Screenshot by Destructoid

You can have up to three balloons on your back at a time, letting you fly in the air until you or another player pops them. Their strength depends on how many you have, so you can wait until more spawn or release a few if their hover power is too much to handle.

How to use balloons

As balloons appear on your back with a Birthday medallion, you can jump to let them boost your height, release them to reduce their effects or pop them if you want to sabotage others. If you have the Birthday medallion equipped, you'll automatically spawn balloons on your back over time until you're eliminated.

LEGO Fortnite's Island Heads are one of the rarest objects in the game, often tying into Weekly Quests. On top of that, its vague instructions offer little insight into what to look for, making it more difficult than it already is.

So, if you're lost (like I was), here's how to visit a Peely Island Head in LEGO Fortnite.

Where to find Peely Island Head in LEGO Fortnite

Like the Llama Island Head and NaNa Village, there's no universal location that spawns the Peely Island Head. However, I find it best to use a seed from another player to fast-track things a bit more. The key thing you need to look out for is a banana statue, which likely triggers a golem appearance.

I used the seed '13.89.36.54.63' from the Reddit user TatoMcgoo to locate my first statue. The world boasts the quickest way to find the Peely Island Head in LEGO Fortnite, considering that it's not too far from the base. Go to the coordinates '0.84, 4.775, 0.23' to find it atop a hill.

Lost Isles map
Screenshot by Destructoid

Looking to the left of Haven's Village, you'll quickly see the banana statue from there. But be warned of the formidable golem that lingers there.

As long as you approach the statue, it should mark the completion of the Peely Island Head mission. If you're up for it, you can try to defeat the banana golem to gain some resources. Weapons like the Star Wars lightsaber and the cannon prove effective with it. You should also keep your distance since its spinning attack can be deadly. Then, you can start looting the Island Head's chest to farm additional rewards.

Exchange the Studs you've earned from the mission to obtain cosmetics from the LEGO Pass. Complete more quests to reach the final tier, providing the exclusive Nana Hut build.

As a survival crafting game, LEGO Fortnite offers a wide range of materials for recipes and upgrades. One such resource is the Red Rock, a crucial ingredient for crafting powerful weapons. We'll show you how to get Red Rock in LEGO Fortnite and what to use it with.

Where to find Red Rocks in LEGO Fortnite

You can mine Red Rocks anywhere on the LEGO Fortnite's Lost Isles map. They appear similar to the Granite, but you can tell the difference through their coloring. To give you an idea of what to expect, here's an image of the two together (Red Rock on the left and Granite on the right):

Red Rock and Granite difference
Screenshot by Destructoid

Unlike the Granite, there isn't a way to pick up the Red Rock, so you'll need a Pickaxe. Use rarities like Uncommon or Epic on the tool to mine those rocks. Common (wood) is the only one that doesn't work since it doesn't have enough strength as an early material. I recommend farming a whole lot of them to better prepare for future builds.

What to use Red Rocks for in LEGO Fortnite

Red Rock is not just a resource; it's a key to unlocking a world of crafting possibilities in LEGO Fortnite. Use it to craft several Lost Isles recipes, such as the Explorer's Machete, Flint-Knock Pistol, Boom Shield, and Throwing Spear. It'll coat all your tools with a dark red shade, similar to the Red Rock's designs.

Red Rock recipe
Screenshot by Destructoid

In addition to the gear, furniture also harnesses a few recipes, using the Zesty Single and Double Beds. More designs may be associated with it, but these bunch seem to be the primary ones for builds.

If you're trying to improve your base, you'll need 15 Red Rocks and 10 Mahogany Rods to unlock Village Level 4. It also mandates a few objectives, like the Complete a Pirate Camp. Make sure to have enough residents in your house, too, to satisfy the Upgrade Requirements. In return, you'll earn rewards for your efforts, providing more uses for villagers and animals.

When you first begin your upgrade journey in Lost Isles, you'll come across a rather peculiar task. The objective enlists travelers to "complete a Pirate Camp" in order to improve the village. Find out how to find a Pirate Camp in LEGO Fortnite, including how to satisfy the quest's requirements.

LEGO Fortnite Complete a Pirate Camp quest guide

To satisfy the Complete a Pirate Camp quest in LEGO Fortnite, you must eliminate all pirates in their hub and loot their chests. But now that begs the question: Where do you find these Pirate Camps? Well, the beach seems to be the quickest way to locate them, as they are easily noticeable with their smoke signals. They'll also appear in other areas, so keep a sharp eye on your surroundings.

Pirate Camp in LEGO Fortnite

Be warned that pirates hanging out by campfire do not count towards this mission. Look for a bunch of houses instead, and you should see those freebooters lounging around. Expect some resistance from them and try to come prepared with suitable weapons, such as the Musket, Flintlock Pistol, and Cannon. Tool upgrades can be helpful, too, so make sure to grab Tomes for maximum damage.

Once you've knocked enough heads, you'll still need to do one last thing to complete the quest. Search for a chest inside one of the buildings and loot it to earn the achievement. If you don't do this step, it won't count towards the Village Level 3 upgrade (even those who eliminate all pirates).

Return to your Village Square, and you'll see a check for the LEGO Fortnite Pirate Camp quest. However, it still requires other minor tasks, like recruiting visitors and crafting a Health Charm. The upgrade also mandates Mahogany Rods and Red Rocks deriving from the new Lost Isle area. Finish and collect them all to maximize your village.

Fortnite officially launched on July 21, 2017, making it just over seven years old. While we're a couple of months late to its actual birthday, we're still celebrating it by eating cake, setting off fireworks, and opening gifts. You can even get a few free rewards for finishing every quest.

All Fortnite seventh Birthday event quests

Fortnite's seventh birthday event has six quests you can complete, ranging from eating cake to using the flare gun to set off fireworks. Three rewards are up for grabs, requiring you to finish at least five of the six tasks. Below is every birthday event quest:

  • Wish the bus driver a Happy Birthday (7)
  • Throw Birthday Presents or open chests (7)
  • Travel distance while airborne with balloons from Birthday Medallions (777)
  • Eat slices of birthday cake (7)
  • Release or pop balloons (7)
  • Reveal players by setting off fireworks with the Flare Gun (7)

Fortunately, many of these tasks are straightforward once you get used to a few mechanics. Wishing the bus driver a happy birthday requires you to emote while riding on the Battle Bus, while balloons and birthday cake are located in the same ten areas around the map.

From here, finding flare guns and birthday presents is luck-based, as they both appear as floor and chest loot. Lastly, the Birthday Medallion is a present reward, so you'll need those to knock out at least two to three tasks.

Completing one of these six quests rewards you with the Birthday Bud emote, while finishing three gives you the Cake Clobberer pickaxe. The grand prize is the Sprinkly Space Cake back bling for completing five quests, so you're allowed to skip one if it's particularly difficult or time-consuming. For me, that was the flare gun one, but it all depends on your luck.
